Common Sense for Illinois

The thing that the opponents to the constitutional convention fail to acknowledge is that a constitutional convention makes common sense. When you have something as broken as Springfield is, you have to do something to fix it. The opportunity for a constitutional convention comes around only once a generation. If we vote it down now, we won't get a chance for another one until 2028, when I will be long out to pasture.

When the opponents of the constitutional convention say that there are "other" and "easier" ways to change the way Springfield does business, they are not telling the truth. It is EXTREMELY difficult to change the constitution without a constitutional convention if it is not something that the legislature and governor already agree with. That is why Lt. Gov. Pat Quinn, who knows a thing or two about changing the constitution, is FOR the constitutional convention. So, by the way, are the last Republican candidates for governor (Judy Barr Topinka) and Cook County Board President (Tony Peraica), as well as many other knowledgeable politicians from both ends of the political spectrum.

If you want changes in accountability, tax policy, and state priorities, vote "yes" for a constitutional convention.
